For Christmas I got a Nintendo Wii, and so being a Bleach fan, I decided to buy the game Shattered Blade...unfortunately, now I'm addicted! It's basically a fighting game, but I love the fact that there are so many characters to choose from! I think Ulquiorra is my favorite character to play...but you could probably guess that from my userpic and username. :)
And now for a rather funny story involving aforementioned game. It all began when I wanted to play with another player instead of just the computer. However, my sister is vehemently against anime and manga...not that she's ever tried watching or reading either, but just because she thinks it's "uncool." So she refused to play with me. I asked my mother, who is definitely not a video game person, but she said she would give it a try since she knew I wanted to play with someone. Oh dear. Have you ever tried to explain the concepts of Bleach to someone who has no idea what it's about? It was quite amusing, and I'm pretty sure my mother thinks I'm insane. Anyway, I tried to avoid using characters names and the word "bankai" so that made it extra interesting...
So my mom and I start playing, and the best part is when she's picking her character. She comes up with nicknames for a lot of them: Ulquiorra became known as "slapper boy" because according to her, he looks annoying because of the fact that he has his hands in his pockets and only takes them out to slap people. She picked Rangiku once because she thought maybe her assets would cause her to win automatically. She did like Kenpachi's hair, though. But I believe her favorite was Captain Komamura, because she claimed she could just flail around and still do damage with him.
My sister was watching us as we were playing, and she finally decided that she would give it a try too, just because she wanted to beat me. The funniest moment of the entire evening was when my sister chose to play Kenpachi. Her bankai meter filled up, and my mom told her to shake the nunchuk. Now, this causes the Kenpachi on the screen to look like he's on fire because of his spiritual energy...at which point my sister exclaims, "I'm on fire!" and proceeds to panic and yell at me because she thought I told her to do something that would hurt her. I almost lost because I was laughing so hard.
So, as much fun as it would be to play this game with people who actually know the characters and the story, I think it may have been more amusing to listen to the commentary of those who have no idea what's going on. ^_^
